Robin Tyner Plays Grande Days On The Auto Harp.

This rare footage of Robin Tyner, ex-frontman of legendary punk group MC5, is quite possibly the best thing we’ve seen and heard this year.

Yes, some people have rudely pointed out that he has the dress sense of the original Terminator and looks like a cross between Uncle Buck and Mrs Doubtfire, but can he play that auto-harp and can he sing a ballad. This, for any of you out there who enjoys watching The X Factor or who has bleated on about how ‘awesome’ Beyonce was at Glastonbury and T In The Park, is what real fucking talent looks like.

The song is about the nights he spent at the infamous Grande Ballroom in Detroit back in 60s when MC5 was a regular house band there, incidentally that’s where they recorded their debut album ‘Kick Out The Jams‘. Sadly Tyner died in 1991 of a massive heart attack, we’ve included the original version of Grande Days, which is even more 80s, below for your further enjoyment. This song is begging to be covered.
