With many Christian factions heralding the end of the world this coming Saturday this video of a religious prank seems appropriate.
This non-practical joke is conducted by wacky Christian comedian Richard Praytor, who convinces some hapless female believer that she’s been left behind following what appears to be a rapture…in a coffee shop. (We were always of the opinion that a rapture would be a rather messy and bloody affair, but apparently it’s the exact opposite, in fact it looks like the tidiest apocalypse option around.)
We’re sexy, pirate atheists and even we think this may be a prank too far. Having your car crushed, your wallet stolen, machinery at your work go haywire are all acceptable pranks, but the end of the world? The rapture? A biblical apocalypse?
Apparently in the episode following this prank wacky Praytor convinces a carpenter to build an enormous ark over the course of five years only to be told when he’s finished there will be no biblical floods, leaving him to pick up the pieces of his broken marriage, re-connect with his estranged children, cope with sleeping rough after losing his house due to mortgage payment arrears and his sudden addiction to crack cocaine.
NB. If Christians make fun of the rapture then surely they are playing with fire by mocking the actions of God himself, by this logic alone surely the joke is on them. Enjoy Saturday’s apocalypse.
